HARRISBURG – Senator Mike Brubaker (R-36) has announced the topic for his monthly cable television program titled, “A Conversation with Senator Brubaker.”
Recognizing September as Hunger Action Month in Pennsylvania, Brubaker’s program highlights the efforts of the Capitol Hunger Garden located on the grounds of the State Capitol Complex. The Hunger Garden was constructed four years ago in an effort to provide healthy food to help those in need and to serve as a valuable tool to raise awareness of hunger issues statewide. Hundreds of volunteers have donated their time to harvest thousands of pounds of produce to feed the needy since the garden’s inception.
The program features Brubaker and other volunteers, such as Penn State master gardeners and members of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, harvesting vegetables in the garden. Following the harvest, Brubaker delivers the vegetables to a local soup kitchen, assists with meal preparation, and helps to serve lunch to local residents in need of food.
This television program will air throughout the month on Blue Ridge Communications (Channel 11) on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and on LCTV (Channel 66) (check local listings for specific air times). This show is also accessible anytime “On Demand” and on Brubaker’s website at www.senatorbrubaker.com
Additional information on the Capitol Hunger Garden, including how to become a volunteer, can also be found on his website.
